長毛兔采用籠養(yǎng)方式，所以養(yǎng)殖場中要做好立體式的養(yǎng)殖箱或養(yǎng)殖籠，并且都要設(shè)立單獨的飲水和飲食槽。一般的養(yǎng)殖場都會選在向陽的冬暖夏涼的比較干燥而且空氣流通較好的地方。同時深入了解和掌握兔舍和養(yǎng)殖箱的構(gòu)造以及維護(hù)方法，可有效提高兔子的生存率和生產(chǎn)效益。

成兔一般是一個兔子一個籠子，這樣管理起來會比較方便，而且長毛兔的體型比普通的兔子要大很多，所以也能讓它們有充足的空間進(jìn)行自由活動。但幼兔則需要在養(yǎng)殖的過程中進(jìn)行分籠管理，并注意母兔和公兔要分開飼養(yǎng)。只需要喂養(yǎng)三次，分別是早中晚各一次。白天主要是以草料為主，而晚上則以精料為主。飼養(yǎng)中需要注意每天都要按時喂水。

長毛兔的日常管理需要及時清理養(yǎng)殖場以及兔舍的衛(wèi)生，并且每次喂食之后要及時清理食物殘渣。每隔五到七天需要對養(yǎng)殖場、兔籠以及飲水槽和飲食槽進(jìn)行，以防細(xì)菌感染。
